Main sources of funding for COVID-19 response in Africa 2021
As of January 2021, foundations and non-governmental organizations represented the leading source of funding to support the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Africa, allocating a total of nearly 96 million U.S. dollars. Of these, around 77.3 million U.S. dollars were spent. Multilateral institutions, including intergovernmental entities within and outside Africa, pledged the second-highest amount to support the COVID-19 response on the continent. However, less than half of it was received as of January 2021.
