Amount of VC equity funding raised by startups in Africa 2020, by vertical
In 2020, one quarter of all equity funding in Africa went to fintech startups. Startups active in the fintech sector raised 356 million U.S. dollars in that year, compared with 179 million U.S. dollars raised by agritech startups. The number of venture capital equity deals closed across the continent has increased year-on-year since 2015.
