User ratio of subscription boxes in Japan 2023, by product
According to a survey conducted in March 2023 in Japan, the majority of shoppers stated that they had never used subscription boxes for consumer goods. Nevertheless, the food sector emerged as the most embraced category, garnering usage rates of approximately 12 percent for perishables and processed foods, while prepared foods and beverages each saw an 11 and 10 percent, respectively, adoption rate among respondents, who were current subscribers to such services.
