Latin America: share of salary spent on school supplies 2019, by country
In 2019, based on online prices of 27 school supplies, parents in Ecuador would spend on average 28.6 percent of their monthly salary during back-to-school season, amounting to a value of 147 U.S. dollars. In comparison, back-to-school spending in Chile represented around 10.5 percent of the monthly salary. Back-to-school season takes place in different times of the year for each Latin American country. In some countries, the use of uniforms is mandatory and implies an additional expense.
