According to a survey conducted in November 2023 in Japan, the majority of respondents, more than 70 percent, were not aware of the term "ethical consumption". Ethical consumption refers to consumption while taking note of social issues and supporting businesses addressing such issues. It is closely related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the awareness was still low in Japan, particularly among older respondents.
