Number of COVID-19 Delta variant cases in Africa 2022, by country
As of March 28, 2022, over 27 thousand SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant cases were reported in Africa. The coronavirus (COVID-19) Delta variant was identified in more than 45 African countries, with South Africa leading in number of infections caused by it. First identified in India, the Delta strain is higly contagious and spread faster than other variants. Overall, more than 11.5 million cases of COVID-19 were registered in Africa since the beginning of the pandemic.
