In a survey conducted among Southeast Asian video gaming industry players, 29 percent of the respondents stated that their monetization method was publishing premium games. The term premium game generally refers to games, especially mobile gaming apps, that are sold for a specific price. Premium games stand in contrast to free-to-play (F2P) games, sometimes referred to as freemium games. F2P apps are initially free to download, but players may spend money on in-app purchases to unlock specific game elements.
