Between January 2019 and June 2023, Brazil registered more than 1,700 cases of political violence (such as murders, threats, or attacks against political leaders or their relatives) across the country. The most violent period so far was the last quarter of 2020, when 236 cases were documented. In the second quarter of 2023, there were a total of 103 victims of political violence.
