Total payments and allocation of the European Social Fund 2015-2022
From 2015 through to 2022, the European Union (EU) began to steadily provide financing from the European Social Fund (ESF) to its member states. The ESF is an EU initiative that supports employment-related projects across the EU. The allocated finances to the ESF increased from approximately 83 billion euros in 2015 to roughly 100 billion euros by 2022. As of 2022 almost 70 percent of the planned allocated funds had been paid out. The funds were then managed by the individual member states and used on local projects and initiatives.
