Lensa AI is a photo and editing app that uses artificial intelligence to create avatars and artistic renderings of user-uploaded pictures. At the end of 2022, the app's global popularity exploded, with users spending over 30.7 million U.S. dollars on the app's digital subscription and premium photo-generation tools in December 2022. However, in April 2022, the in-app revenues generated by Lensa AI barely surpassed 1.09 million U.S. dollars. In May 2024, the app generated less than 600,000 U.S. dollars. Lensa AI, which offers a one-week free trial period with the possibility of purchasing 50 avatars for approximately four U.S. dollars, was originally launched in 2018 by the U.S.-based Prisma Labs.
