Microsoft Windows 8: number of licenses sold 2012-2014

According to Microsoft as of May 2013, approximately 6 months after release, the company had sold approximately 100 million licenses for Windows 8. This was up from 40 million in November 2012. As at February 2014, Microsoft had sold a total of around 200 million licenses of Windows 8.
Microsoft’s Windows 7 has been a leader in the computer operating systems market since at least early 2012.
