Single-Serve Coffee in the U.S.
When you only want to make one or two cups of coffee without having to brew an entire pot or carefully measure out the coffee grounds and water needed to make that exact amount of coffee, single-serve coffee machines are a lifesaver. The share of American consumers who own a single-cup coffee brewing system increased from 10 percent in 2012 to 41 percent in 2018. In 2017, Keurig Green Mountain was the leading vendor in the single-cup coffee market in terms of market share.
Coffee in the Workplace
In the United States, 71 percent of employees had a coffee area in their workplace as of 2018. For many Americans, coffee is an essential part of any morning routine. While the most common coffee preparation method in the workplace is standard drip coffee, 37 percent of U.S. employees surveyed would like to have a single-cup coffee machine in their office or work area.
