This statistic illustrates the findings of a 2014 online survey among qualified utility, municipal, commercial and community stakeholders on their plans to replace, upgrade or build communications infrastructure in the next 5 years. Some 63 percent of respondents from the electric utility sector said they were planning to do so. The main reasons for doing so include providing support for smart grid initiatives and the mobile workforce, as well as upgrading obsolete infrastructure.
