Starbucks vs. McDonald’s – battle of the giants
In the United States, Starbucks earned second place when ranked against other leading QSR chains in terms of sales. The list is led by quick-service king McDonald’s, who generated U.S. sales of around 38.52 billion U.S. dollars in the United States in 2018. While Starbucks did come in second place McDonald’s placed well in the lead, over doubling the sales of Starbucks in 2018.
Large-scale expansion
The company has expanded exponentially in recent years, more than doubling its units over the last decade, accounting for more than 31 thousand stores worldwide in 2019. In that year, the famous U.S. coffeehouse chain, perhaps unsurprisingly, had the most stores in its home country. Other countries the company has expanded to include Germany, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates.
