Not wasting food was a major factor in home cooking among consumers in Japan as revealed in a survey conducted between September and October 2022. Almost 47 percent of respondents stated that they paid attention to not wasting food ingredients when cooking. Related to this habit, 39 percent made sure to only prepare amounts that they could finish, with using up all ingredients following closely behind as a key factor.
