In 2023, the number of participants in cross-training style workouts increased by 1.6 percent from the previous year, amounting to 9.4 million. This resumed the tentative recovery experienced in 2021, when participation rose by nearly 600 thousand after falling by more than four million between 2019 and 2020, most likely due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
