The commercial sector in the United States was responsible for 758 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂) from energy consumption in 2023, a decrease of six percent from the previous year. The majority of the commercial sector's total CO₂ emissions are associated with indirect emissions, attributed to the sector based on its share of total purchased electricity.
