At the end of fiscal year 2018, the budget estimated revenue expenditure of India's central and state governments on power projects amounted to more than 1.4 trillion Indian rupees. The revenue expenditure refers to expenditure which neither creates assets nor reduces liability.
As of March 2018, the power requirement in India was just over 106kWh.
