Depressive disorder prevalence in Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels (Belgium) 2018
In 2018, the prevalence of depressive disorders in Belgium varied greatly per region. For instance, the prevalence of depressive disorders in Flanders was lower than the country's average of 9,4 percent. Meanwhile, with a prevalence of 13,8 percent, the share of the population suffering from a depressive disorder was twice as high in Wallonia than in Flanders. Given that an error margin is inevitable for any scale that measures psychological issues, these figures can only provide insight into the landscape of mental health in Belgium.
