In France, the per capita consumption of alcoholic beverages has fallen sharply since 1960, with tables wines, and ciders being the most affected. French people appear to have turned away from table wines in favor of higher quality wines, consumption of which especially increased during the 1980s and 1990s.
On the other hand, beer consumption increased until the 1980s, then declined until the beginning of 2010; since then it has risen again, mainly driven by craft beers and fruit-flavored beers.
