Usage rate of hair care services at beauty parlors in Japan 2016-2023, by gender
According to a survey conducted in February 2023 in Japan, 80.3 percent of women and 33.9 percent of men used hair care services at beauty parlors in the past year. Women typically frequent beauty parlors while men frequent beauty parlors, as well as barber shops. However, a larger share of men prefers barber shops over beauty parlors.
