Share of Ecowas in medical equipment imports into Africa 2019, by type
As of 2019, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) covered 56 percent of the instruments imported into Africa for medical, surgical, dental, or veterinary undertakings. This represented the largest share of medical equipment imported into the regional political and economic union that year. It was followed by mechanotherapy, massage, and psychotechnics devices, which covered 16 percent of the medical equipment imports in Africa. Other imported medical goods included furniture, X-ray equipment, respiratory devices, and orthopedic articles.
