This graph shows the average tax rates of the 400 taxpayers reporting the highest adjusted annual gross income to the IRS in the United States in 2014. Total income tax is defined as income tax after credits. 39.25 percent of the 400 taxpayers with the largest income in 2014 paid a tax rate between 20 and 25 percent. 9.5 percent of the 400 taxpayers paid 35 percent or more income tax.
