This statistic shows how calves from different genders and herds were destined to be used in 2021. In France, more than 60 percent of male calves from dairy herds were destined for butchery, while about one percent of them were destined for reproduction. Almost three-quarters of female calves from dairy herds were destined for reproduction, while 44 percent of females from lactating animals had the same purpose.
