Italy: opinion on Jus soli citizenship right bill 2017
This statistic illustrates the share of Italians who were in favor or against the Jus soli ("law of the soil") after the Senate canceled the date of its vote in 2017. According to the survey, almost 70 percent of respondents were against the draft. The bill would confer Italian citizenship to children who have been to school in Italy for at least five years and, if at least one parent holds a residence permit, to babies born on Italian soil.
