Share of deaths from PM2.5 pollution in the European Union has been greater in Poland, with 21.7 percent of all deaths were attributable to PM2.5 particulate matter exposure in 2019. Bulgaria also recorded high rates, at 21 percent. By comparison, Finland was the European member with the lowest share, with 5.9 percent of all deaths attributable to PM2.5 particulate matter pollution.
