Population age structure in depopulated areas compared to average Japan 2020
In 2020, around 8.5 percent of the population in depopulated areas in Japan were aged 85 or older, as opposed to the national average of 4.8 percent. The largest difference between the national average and depopulated areas could be observed among people aged 60 and older.
