Share of wine tourists in South Africa 2021, by origin
In 2021, a survey conducted at South African wineries found that the majority of their visitors were local, with a share of 52 percent. Foreign visitors accounted for the lowest share at 18 percent, while domestic tourists who live far away made up the remaining 30 percent. The low share of international tourists is likely due to travel restrictions and general complications due to the Covid-10 pandemics.
