Number of companies in long-distance omnibus transport in Germany 2008-2018

Figures until 2014 were derived from earlier issues of the publication. The source gives the following information on long-distance omnibus transport: "The regular long-distance transport with omnibuses is overland bus transport. This includes a regular transport connection between certain outgoing and destination points, where passengers can board and disembark at certain stations. In comparison to local public transport, long-distance transport includes, in case of doubt, transport where in the majority of trasportation cases the total travel distance exceeds 50 km or the total travel time exceeds one hour. Occasional long-distance transport includes excursion trips and rented omnibus transport according to §§ 48 and 49 PBefG, if the travel distance exceeds 50 km, as well as all vacation destination trips according to § 48 PBefG. In occasional long-distance transport it is to be considered that in the case of information on passengers the sum of domestic transport + transport crossing borders, transit and international transport with the sum of rental omnibus transport + excursion trips + vacation destination trips should match."
