This statistic shows the opinions among Arab youths on the reasons of some people to be attracted to ISIS (also known as Daesh) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as of February 2016. A twelve percent share of the respondents stated that the American invasion of Iraq was one of the primary reasons for some people to be attracted to ISIS/Daesh. Furthermore, in eight of the 16 countries that were surveyed, the lack of jobs is considered to be the number one reason that people join ISIS/Daesh.

* The original question stated by the source is as follows: Which of the following, if any, do you think are the primary reasons why some young people are attracted to daesh? Please choose up to three reasons.
The countries covered by this survey were Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and Yemen.
The survey did not include Syria due to the civil war there.
Respondents were exclusevly comprised of citizens of the countries outlined above, with 50% male and 50% female respondents.
The margin of error for this survey is +/-1.65 per cent.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates had 300 respondents. Iraq had 250 respondents and Palestine had 150. Each remaining country had 200 respondents.
The majorty of respondents were from urban areas.
