Civitas Metropolitano, home to Atlético Madrid, was the second-largest venue, with a capacity of over 70,000. During the previous season, the La Liga's total attendance reached its highest peak since 2009/10, at more than 11 million.

Looking at major soccer leagues worldwide, the first division in Spain did not record the highest average match attendance in 2022/23. Germany's Bundesliga, England's Premier League, and Italy's Serie A all ranked ahead of La Liga, which placed fourth.
