Plastic resins processed by recycling companies in the EU 2020, by type
Polyethylene (PE) was the most commonly processed plastic resin amongst the 57 European plastic recyclers surveyed in 2020. 77 percent of the recycling companies processed this resin, while 29 percent processed polypropylene (PP). PP accounts for roughly 20 percent of polymer demand in the EU. It is used in a number of applications, such as packaging.
