Awareness of climate change in African countries 2016-2018, by educational level
In a study conducted between 2016 and 2018, six in 10 Africans declared to have heard about climate change. On the contrary, 40 percent of the respondents were not familiar with the term. Mauritius, Malawi, and Uganda registered the highest percentages of respondents who stated that they had heard about climate change. Africans with a higher education were by far more likely to have heard about climate change. Around 80 percent of the respondents, who had at least a post-secondary education, knew about climate change. This was about double of the people without any formal education.
