Self-sufficiency rate of meat in selected countries in Europe 2000-2015
This statistic shows the self-sufficiency rate of meat in the European Union (EU-28) from 2000 to 2015. The European Union has an oversupply of poultry meat with a self-sufficiency rate of 107 percent in 2015. Essentially, this means that more poultry meat is produced than there are citizens to consume it, leaving an excess. The same applies for pig meat, whereas there is an over-demand for sheep and beef / veal meat.
