Is China’s population rising or falling?

Statistics show that China’s population has grown steadily over the past decade. In 2002, China had a population of 1.284 billion people and this had climbed to 1.328 billion people by 2008. However, over the past five years, the speed of population growth in China started to slow down slightly. Today, China has a total population of 1.354 billion people. India is closing in rapidly on China, after recording a surge in its population – China’s neighbour now has 1.223 billion citizens.
