Belarusian Victoria Azarenka came out first in the recent WTA ranking of the top 50 female tennis players worldwide, with 10,265 ranking points. Azarenka won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London for mixed doubles. The WTA rankings are based on the results a player achieves in 16 tournaments at the most for singles and 11 for doubles. To be included in rankings by the WTA, ranking points must be earned in a minimum of three tournaments, a minimum of ranking points for 10 singles or ranking points for 10 doubles in one or more tournaments. Azarenka is followed by Maria Sharapova from Russia and Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland.
