Which state in the U.S. is the most religious?

Mississippi has the highest share of very religious Americans by state – 59%, according to a survey by Gallup in 2011. Utah is not far behind with 57%. Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina and Tennessee also show high numbers, with more than 50% of respondents also stating they are very religious. Vermont has the most non-religious residents at 58%.
