This forecast shows sales numbers of tablets and iPads in the U.S. from 2010 to 2012. In 2010, 9,7 million tablets were sold in the U.S., including 8,8 million iPads. Apple’s success with the iPad brought the tablet industry back to life. Numerous high-profile electronics manufacturers such as Samsung, RIM and HP released tablet computers in quick succession, but so far none of them has been able to replicate the iPad’s success. From the iPad launch up until September 2011, global iPad sales have amounted to 40 million units, generating 25 billion U.S. dollars in revenue.
