Southern Company was ranked as the largest gas and electric utility in the United States, based on revenue, in 2022. Southern Company generated approximately 29.3 billion U.S. dollars in FY 2022. The utility was also considered one of the largest electric utilities in the country based on market value and is headquartered in Georgia. Duke Energy, following in second in the ranking, is based in North Carolina.
