Charlie Hebdo is a French satirical weekly magazine that publishes amongst other things cartoons and drawings aimed at different political, religious and other targets. In the past this also included publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. On January 7, 2015 two Islamist gunmen attacked the Paris headquarters of Charlie Hebdo killing twelve people.
