Breakdown of greenhouse emissions in the United Kingdom (UK) 2022, by gas
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is the most abundant greenhouse gas produced in the United Kingdom, accounting for approximately 80 percent of the country's net territorial emissions in 2022. The largest source of UK CO₂ emissions is domestic transportation. Methane (CH4) is the second-most abundant GHG in the UK. CH4 is roughly 30 times more potent than CO₂ at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 100-year period.
