External debt stock in Sub-Saharan Africa 2016-2020
As of 2020, the total external debt in Sub-Saharan Africa reached 702 billion U.S. dollars, increasing some 5.5 percent in comparison to the previous year. Overall, the foreign debt load has been increasing in Sub-Saharan African economies. In 2016, external debt stock in the region was measured at 492 billion U.S. dollars.
