Global opinions on cyber stalking 2021, by age group
According to a global survey conducted in December 2021, over one fifth of respondents said that they did not care if they were being stalked online by a current or a former partner, as long as they were not being stalked in person. Overall, 40 percent of respondents aged 18 to 39 years, said that cyber stalking is acceptable if it is for their current or former partner's physical or mental wellbeing, whilst 27 percent of those aged 40 years and over agreed with this statement. Additionally, 21 percent of those aged 40 years and over thought that online stalking of a current or former partner was harmless. In general, adults under the age of 40 had fewer reservations surrounding the topic of online stalking.
