Europe: consumer belief on when electric cars will replace combustion vehicles
In 2023, according to a survey conducted on consumer belief on the anticipated time of replacement of combustion vehicles by electric cars, the majority of survey participants expect it would take more than 16 years for electric cars to completely replace combustion vehicles. In Germany, 22 percent of the survey participants believe the complete replacement of combustion vehicles by electric cars will take place within five years. Norway was the country that had the lowest anticipation rate for the complete replacement of combustion vehicles by electric cars within five years, despite being the European country with the largest share of electric vehicles among new car sales.
