VK (formerly Mail.ru Group) is one of the largest digital enterprises in the Russian-speaking segment of the internet and the leading email service provider in Russia. In 2023, the company earned a revenue of nearly 133 billion Russian rubles, marking a 35 percent increase compared to the previous year. It was the highest value during the observed period.

After a significant net loss in 2018, VK reported nearly four billion Russian rubles in net profits for 2022. Online advertising was the leading segment of the group by earnings, followed by massively multiplayer online (MMO) games with over 28 billion Russian rubles in annual revenue. As of 2022, the company employed 11 thousand full-time employees.
VK’s business model
The company as it is known to date was founded in 2005. It owns two of the largest Russian-speaking social media platforms, Vkontakte (VK) and Odnoklassniki (Ok.ru). As a shareholder of AliExpress Russia JV, the group also operates in the e-commerce market. In 2022, VK sold its international gaming brand MyGames and the delivery service Delivery Club.
