Occupancy rate of hotels in the Nordic capitals 2020, by month
As a consequence of the current corona crisis, the occupancy of hotels in the Nordic capitals decreased significantly in 2020. April was the worst month for all capitals. Hotels in Reykjavik and Helsinki suffered particularly, with occupancy rates at 1.3 percent and 2.6 percent each. As of June and August, the occupancy rates increased, but was still low compared to before the crisis. By the end of the year, the occupancy rate declined again, with hotels in Reykjavik reporting an occupancy rate as low as four percent.
