Leading purpose of visit of international tourists in Africa 2018
Nearly 35 million international tourists reached the African continent for the purpose of leisure, recreation, and holidays in 2018, representing 51 percent of the total tourist arrivals. Moreover, some 10.5 million tourists carried out business and professional duties in the region. Additionally, over 21 million of the inbound tourists either visited friends and family or traveled for health, religion, or other reasons. In 2021, the international tourist arrivals in Africa was projected to reach 37.3 million.
