Respondents' support for a complete ban on sale of high-sugar drinks Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted on implementing a sugar tax in Singapore in July 2019, around 58 percent of the respondents stated that they were in support of a complete ban on the sale of high-sugar drinks in Singapore. As sugary drinks have been a major contributor to obesity and diabetes, actions from the government were needed to improve availability and access to healthy foods. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
