Due to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the global economy, the Italian air transport sector could experience a loss in revenues of 25 to 55 percent compared to the previous year. Similarly, the revenues generated by the airports' management might experience a decrease of 22.5 to 50.4 percent.

Italy is on the countries with the third highest number of coronavirus cases worldwide. Currently, this pandemic has infected people in over 100 countries across six continents.
