Porsche car registration number South Korea 1994-2023
In 2023, there were around 11.4 thousand Porsche cars registered in South Korea. The first sports car from the German automaker Porsche was first sold in South Korea in 1994, with the second being sold in the following year.
Traditionally, the German brands Mercedes-Benz or BMW were status symbols in Korea, an indication to other people that the owner was affluent and likely powerful as well. Their popularity was similar to the popularity of luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel. Nowadays, as Koreans in general have more capital at their disposal, Mercedes-Benzes and BMWs have become more common and less exclusive. This is possibly the cause behind increasing interest in sports cars such as Porsches.
